About the Tutor


Gareth Reid was born in Belfast and lives and works in Glasgow. He graduated from Glasgow School of Art, attended Florence Academy of Art and has been a practising artist for 20 years. He is a portraiture and life drawing tutor previously at Glasgow School of Art (Con Ed) and the University of Strathclyde (CLL). He has shown at the BP Portrait Award on five occasions, winning the Travel Award in 2007, and in 2017 won Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year drawing Adrian Chiles, Imelda Staunton, Tom Courtenay, Mrs Justice Chema-Grubb along the way. His winning commission of Graham Norton now hangs in the National Gallery of Ireland. He recently painted HRH the Prince of Wales for Hillsborough Castle.
